Name: soundwave
Canon/Continuity: IDW

Canon Point: Transformers #36
Personality:
- he is literally big brother
- loyal to a fault/probably co-dependent in the worst way; because even if it turns out the cause has been misguided for oh say three of the four million years of war, he's still committed until something drastic happens
- a survivor; he does what is necessary, as much as he can, without betraying himself and his beliefs and it is done pragmatically. it's just sometimes rooting your beliefs in a person's ideals isn't a good thing. maybe not sometimes, maybe it's always a bad thing.
- for a communications bot, he had a period of time where he didn't say a lot. and really, he still doesn't. he's straight to the point and has little room for small talk, unless it's necessary. he's not one for sharing and talking but is learning to be more transparent in this new decepticon leadership. it's a WIP
- tactician of some sort; minimize casualties in war, collect supplies and resources to fuel it, advise his leader (whoever it may be at the time). is able to see things from a big picture and not focus too much on individuals. think of him as chief of staff.
- bleeding spark of the decepticon; makes sense when you're able to "smell agitation" and [ general mind/emotions reading powers ]. but really, galvatron probably puts that title to anyone who cares about earthlings and peace. soundwave is showing more and more emotions though, and care for his fellow decepticon's welfare.
- probably an outlier; see above
- tired of this bullshit war, tbh; tired of using his people, tired of all the destruction they seem to do, he's not going to kill anymore cybertronians if he can help it but damn, prowl makes it tempting. he is moving on to better and bigger things and trying to reinvent himself (which he's still trying to do, and it's hard because it's been so long since he's had such a shift in perspective and no one to ground himself to) and the image of decepticons (even though the name itself is... not.. good) to their initial roots.
Sample:
In an extreme twist of events, Soundwave finds himself in a quiet space. Not just in the area around him but the immediate space in his head, where frequencies cross and lap each other. It's not exactly quiet but it's quieter than it has been in a long time. He can hear the ire in Galvatron's voice a few rooms away, spitting out insult to "Spacebus". He can see his cassettes rambling about who has a cheating hand, and thinking they should gang up on the poor bot who decided to play with them (Unfortunately, they don't have Soundwave around to feed them the appropriate gameplay or misdirection).
Soundwave brushes these idle, floating thoughts away and centres his focus else where. To himself. He knows the reason for this silence. There's an absence within it. A link that has been severed by distance and fractions. He thinks about contacting Ravage but the futility and waste of that action screams at him, and old habits are hard to break - was it not his task to look to resource management and report them appropriately. He will preserve his silence for now, until there is more pivotal reasons to speak to his old friend. More reasons to inquire about the former leader of the Decepticons. Old habits are hard to break but break they must for new ways to set in.
